What Is the Alternative Book Shop?
ABS is a unique bookstore designed exclusively for Small and Self-Publishers -- an outlet for those harder-to-find literary gems that don't always get the exposure they deserve.
Far different from giant "million-book" outlets, we're more of a browsers' bookstore, where you don't get just a listing -- but a review and often a sampling of each book. Think of this as your friendly neighborhood bookstore, rather than that cavernous outlet in the mall.
How to Navigate Our Site?
From our Home Page, check out the Book-of-the Month, Featured Specials or click on our List of Book Categories where you can select an area to browse.....just like a section in your favorite bookstore. Choose the books you like, then check ‘em out individually, since each one has its own page, complete with cover, library listings and review/excerpt/promotional material to give you an actual taste of the book. And don't forget that our menu bar, found at the bottom of every page, allows you to freely navigate throughout our site.
How to Order?
When you're ready to purchase, simply click "Order Form" and you'll find an already-prepared form for that particular title. Then you have a choice of completing and submitting your order electronically, or printing it out and faxing, phoning or mailing it to us.
Why a Bookstore for Small and Self-Publishers?
Because their books don't get the automatic exposure conglomerate publishers like Random House can demand, and because their output is often far more interesting to the reader who's not hooked on bestseller mania. Also, as more publishers join us, the better the site continues to be for everybody, each time it's re-visited. It's a unique opportunity for both readers and publishers to benefit from our "harder-to-find" selections, all under one familiar roof.
