A CHILDREN'S STORY FOR ALL AGES WHICH EXPLORES THE ODYSSEY OF A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD BOY BEING EXPOSED TO THE WORLD OF DOG RACING, GREYHOUND ADOPTION, AND THE ISSUES INHERENT IN BOTH.
Excerpt:
I said "What's the protest, Gram?" She said, "When you don't agree with what someone is doing, you protest to let them know how you feel. For instance if when you came to visit I said you can not swim in my pool, you would probably very loudly protest!" I thought about this and said, "It wouldn't be fair for you to keep me out of your pool on such a hot day". Gram said, "Everyone has a very different idea of what is fair my little angel. I am protesting at the dog races because I don't like the way these animals are abused and neglected. When they can't run fast enough to win they are killed. A very small percentage of these dogs get adopted into wonderful homes where their owners love and appreciate them, but 50,000 of them a year are killed and I think that is very wrong."
