Have You Ever Wondered Why???
What do the Jolly Green Giant, Orville Redenbacher, Continental Airlines, The Boring Institute, The Girl Scouts, The CEO of PBS and Chef Boyardee have in common? They are just some of the recipients of intrepid and irreverent queries from J.W. Fagan.
A Stamp and a Dream
Author J.W. Fagan has released his first book, entitled, "Letters of a Malcontent - A Collection of Thoughtful Absurd and Bizarre Correspondence".
Over the period of several years, J. W. Fagan has corresponded to CEO's, politicians, psychics customer service departments and strangely- named organizations in a quest for knowledge. Or, rather, a quest to see if bizarre and slightly askew comments, observations and questions would even be answered.
Happily, they were, and often the responses were accompanied by jumbo coupons and various free gifts.
Now you can share the postal adventures of this mis-aligned marauder of the mailboxes. Travel to a place where reality and fantasy has become so clouded that people aren't sure whether to shoo him away or provided some much-needed therapy. Travel to the sometimes-ugly innards of big business, where multi-million dollar decisions are discussed by people with little or no sense of humor. Find out what it takes to make the average customer service-happy company say "Go Away!". Join in the fun and learn about the current state of the art of letter writing in America.
J.W. Fagan is an enigma wrapped in flannel pajamas. He began writing his poison pen letters to bring a halt to volumes of junk mail he was receiving beginning, with the ominous missives from Ed McMahon which taunted him about untold riches to be had. A man with more than a few well-worn pairs of sneakers in his closet, J.W. grew up in several parts of the U.S and Canada. In his search to find a place to call "home", he became stranded in the bus station in Albany and liked it so much he just never got around to leaving. J.W. now resides in Upstate New York. Much to his chagrin, he still receives more junk mail than ever.
