Review:

TWO GREAT PRESIDENTS: ONE GREAT FAMILY

The title of the book is TWO GREAT PRESIDENTS: ONE GREAT FAMILY. It is 289 pages. The key features of the book are: (1) both President Roosevelts, Teddy and Franklin, are in the same book; (2) a section is reserved for Eleanor from her childhood and especially her days as the first woman chair of the Human Rights Commission at the United Nations; (3) A chapter on the relations between Franklin and his literary companion Daisy Suckley, probably platonic, which was unknown to the public until she died at the age of 100 in 1991,46 years after his death; (4) The friction between the two factions, Oyster Bay which included Teddy and Eleanor who was the daughter of Teddy's brother Elliott, and Franklin of the Hyde Park group; (4) Interesting human interest stories about the parents of all three, Teddy, Franklin, and Eleanor; (5) The story of Warm Springs, Georgia and how a crippled man with polio was successful in deceiving the public and getting himself elected as President; (6) Full chapters on three other Roosevelt women, Edith, "naughty Alice," daughter of Teddy, and Daisy, who was a distant cousin of Franklin and a closer cousin to Eleanor; (7) The exciting and glamorous Republican Convention of 1884 and the same for the 1932 Democratic Convention. The work also informs the reader of how the Roosevelt family became aristocrats through 300 years.

The author spent over 30 years in the classroom as a teacher, much of it in history. More information may be found on the web site http://www.twogreatpresidents.com/.

Sincerely,

G.Wayne Dailey
