Review:
REVENUE AGENT is the true-life story of Mac Day, former police chief of Welch, West Virginia and later Federal Prohibition Agent of McDowell County, West Virginia during the early 20th century, a time of rampant lawlessness in these mountain areas. Coal w as king and corruption was the order of the day.
Agent Day, feared but respected by his wily prey, was finally gunned down by a moonshiner on February 14, 1925.

"A good man is gone, and we shall ne'er see his like again."
Judge George W. McClintic
United States Federal Court

On one occasion an officer in disguise, being
unable to get any information from the older people, met a rather dull-looking boy, and the following conversation ensued:
"My boy, did you ever see a moonshine still?"
" Yep."
"Could you take me to one?"
"Yep."
"Well, now, I am a stranger in this country, and am curious to see one of those famous mountain stills. If you will take me to one, I'll give you five dollars."
"All right, gimme it."
"No, you must first take me to the still, and when we come back I'll pay you."
"Yes, mister, but you ain't comin' back."
