The inspiration for Second Chance and the driving force of the novel result from the author's spiritual transformation after being stricken with and surviving a life-threatening brain tumor. He is now a ten year (long term) survivor.
In Second Chance the characters meet aboard a cruise ship and a strong bond forms between a wealthy widow and a struggling young singer. This bond proves to be the catalyst for a new beginning. With the heartbreak of shattered lives behind them, they join together to establish a home for wayward girls. As the story unfolds, its characters painfully discover the effects of a dysfunctional family, but learn that wounds can be healed. Divine guidance and angelic intervention prove that the power of healing, body, mind, and soul lies within each of us, and that ESP is an attribute we all possess as we evolve into multi-sensory beings. An intuitive knowingness that everything, everywhere in the universe works in synchronous fashion soon makes the characters and the reader aware that there are no coincidences. More importantly, they as well as the author, found that the bonds of love are not broken by death and can grow stronger through tragedy. In this inspirational novel, Daniel Ovist has truly given his characters and the reader a Second Chance.
