About the author:

In addition to environmental and outdoor writings for many outlets, Lon L. Emerick is the author of numerous professional textbooks and journal articles in what he calls "his other life", professor of speech pathology at Northern Michigan University and N orthern Arizona University. Emerick's ties to this special part of America began when his great-great grandfather came to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from Cornwall England in the mid-1800s to mine copper.
