“Jamie,
hey Jamie wait up a second, will ya?”
Darn!
It’s Steven, and Charlie is with him. They are in Mrs. Chambers’ fifth grade
class, the same as me. Whadda they want now?
“Hey
Jamie are you gonna play ball today?” Steven asks, he is out of breath after
running just a little ways. Charlie stands there grinning, he thinks he’s so
great just because he’s a Navajo.
“Naw,
not today,” I lied, “I’ve got to take care of my little brother.”
“Again?”
Steven moans, throwing up his arms.
“Yes again,” I snapped at him. It’s none of his business anyway….
