Few Americans seem aware that Chapter 11 bankruptcy is available to individuals or "consumer debtors". Nobody talks about it. One reads article after article about Chapters 7 and 13. There are many manuals and books on these programs but the general perception seems to be that Chapter 11 is available only to businesses. Not so! In just under 20 months we went through a Chapter 11 case "Pro Se" which means "for ourselves" (read: without a lawyer) with outstanding results. We have rearranged our financial lives via our court approved Plan of Reorganization. This Guidebook will show you, in detail, how we got our plan approved and our Chapter 11 case closed.

In the Appendix to this Guidebook you will find actual copies of many of the documents we were required to create and submit. Copies of documents we received from the United States Bankruptcy Court and the office of the United States Trustee are also included. Filing some form of bankruptcy became an option for us after our income stream was interrupted and our reserves were depleted after a heart attack and the extensive period of recuperation which followed. We looked long and hard for a helpful and informative Guidebook such as this with no success. Our goal now is to help as many "temporarily" financially challenged people as possible. Chapter 11 certainly saved us and we cannot help but reflect on our frustrating and fruitless search for a Guidebook such as the one we have created here. WE WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.
