REVIEW:

Inge Margot Allen wrote a compelling true story about what it was like for a young girl growing up and living a life of fear and horror in Hitler's Germany during World War Two. She tells what it was like to be hungry and the hasty evacuation each night to the cellar bomb shelter crowded with other people. You get a vivid picture of terrifying nights of bombing with no light and heat in freezing weather. She talks about starvation, rape and cruel punishment to the German people by the Russians.

She talks about the Berlin Wall and the hardships it created. How the Russian government mercilessly cut off Berlin's lifeline by blocking all road, rail and water traffic into Berlin. She describes what it was like during the war years, and the even more difficult years in the aftermath of the war, including the period of the Berlin Air-Lift and the Berlin Candy Bomber.

At the age of 19, in 1954, Inge left Berlin to have the greatest adventure of her life as an immigrant to America. She received her citizenship papers in 1960, and later that year she married and became a devoted Army Air-Force wife until 1986 when her husband died of a massive heart attack after a wonderful 26 years of marriage and raising two boys.

This is a true story, only the names have been changed to protect those still living.

Today Ms. Allen is retired and has taken up writing. She has written the novel "James Burke/Public Defender" with Frank Leanza and together they wrote it as a screenplay. Inge has also written the novels "A Lifetime of Memories", "Sisters at Odds" and "Reflections of Yesterday." She currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.
