LAUNCH YOURSELF INTO MILLION DOLLAR SOBRIETY
I am thoroughly convinced that the "Recovery Industry" is in the midst of a major crisis. Regardless of the claims made by the drug and alcoholism treatment centers, or those of the Recovery Establishment as a whole, we who are in the trenches are seeing an entirely different picture than that being promulgated. We are witnessing nine out of ten newcomers to A.A. and the other 12-step programs, coming straight from these treatment facilities, relapsing within their first year. This initial success rate in the past had always been relatively poor, but in the last few years or so, it seems to have grown diminutively poorer. Something is definitely wrong.
I am not attempting to tear down this Establishment or to condemn or alienate the people working in this field. These are good people working in a very difficult profession. They deserve all the credit in the world, and they are very much appreciated. My attempt is to awaken this recovery bureaucracy to the fact they are perhaps smugly wallowing in approaches and methods producing only marginal and minimal results. Real figures that ring true to the tune of only a 10% or less success rate.
Again, this is in no means a slur to those working in this field. They are only using the methods and techniques taught to them. It is not the people I question, but rather the tools being employed. Look, if I was a Major League baseball player hitting at a .100 clip, I had soon better examine some better methods and approaches to swinging the bat, or I won't be playing in the Big Leagues much longer Perhaps some new methods and approaches should be tried at rehabilitation, before the day comes when the Insurance Companies pack up and pull out entirely.
I love A.A., N.A., and all the other 12-step recovery programs. I have sworn a life-long allegiance to these organizations. I have a life sentence with no chance for parole. Nevertheless, A.A., N.A., and the others are not to be let off the hook as contributors to this dismal success and relapse rate. We ostensibly appear vast and overwhelmingly complicated to the newcomer. Very little has been done over the years to change this perception and to comfort their transition to sobriety. Many are lost because of this apparent and perceived complexity. Perhaps Cornerstones of Sobriety and Sanity will change all of this.
My methods and approaches offer a simple, easy, and immediate establishment of a strong and powerful foundation in sobriety. A process for newcomers, or those struggling with sobriety, to immediately begin working the 12-steps and to forthright incorporate and infuse them into their daily lives. A foundation which guarantees sobriety "one day at a time." No one whom I sponsor, or others who sincerely and exactly work the steps as I do, has ever drank or drugged - no one! Newcomers and all that are wrestling with recovery can easily and readily commence from day one to establish this foundation and partake in this 100% success rate.
My book totally removes the fear and reluctance of the self-inventory process required by all 12-step programs. This step is often perceived, and often promoted, as being a painstaking, grueling, exhausting, and punishing undertaking. Many newcomers, already confused in their denial and with the complexity of recovery, would rather face the horrors of relapse than to face doing this. Unfortunately, that which was intended to help them has now become their demise. Many are lost.
Cornerstones simplifies this whole thing of taking a moral inventory. We deal with only one defect of character - self-centeredness. The root cause of all our troubles, the "mother" of all defects. Focusing on and dealing with only one defect of character is perceived as being easy and unburdening. All become willing to center on just this one thing, and readily undertake dealing with this defective character trait. We don't fool around. We don't treat the symptoms; we treat the root cause. Treat the root cause and the symptoms all melt away. People change and get better beyond their wildest dreams.
Above all, Cornerstones deals with an area that appears no one else wants to deal with. Moreover, this is ironically the main bothersome worry and concern of alcoholics and addicts, newcomers and old-timers alike. How to effectively handle and overcome depression, anxiety, negative thoughts, psychotic thoughts, and the obsessions and compulsions that comes with alcoholism and drug addiction. These scourges often torment the recovering alcoholic or addict relentlessly to the brink of insanity. They are the major cause of relapse, death, and institutionalization. My book boldly comes face to face with this very serious problem, attacks it head on, and defeats it entirely. I have never seen or read a book, written exclusively for alcoholics and addicts, that has thoroughly and effectively dealt with these often-unmentioned afflictions. Cornerstones fearlessly examines the origins of these conditions and tenders a triumph over them.
Cornerstones' uniqueness lies in that it goes almost entirely contrary to the present-day core doctrinal principles of rehabilitation. Primarily, the delusion that we can become well and get better by critically looking deep into ourselves, analyzing our sickness, and confessing it to others. This is thoroughly investigated, explored, challenged, and exposed as the major cause for this discouraging 10% success rate. Such approaches and therapeutic principles directly violate certain spiritual and universal laws established by God. Regardless of what modern secular psychology and therapy tries to promote, you simply cannot and will not get better through the introspective self-analysis and confession of your lower nature. The deeper one looks, the sicker one gets. You get better only by the orderly and methodical confession of your true and higher nature. Cornerstones offers a systematic approach and reasoning for this positive confession. A confession that produces amazing results; healing body, mind, and spirit, while launching one into "million dollar" sobriety.
In the entire history of the recovery from alcoholism and addiction, there has never been a book written like Cornerstones of Sobriety and Sanity. These principles and methods is truly God given. For God did for me what I could not do for myself. He gave me the wisdom and the revelation knowledge to see my way out of a living nightmare. When I see someone apply these principles and become whole again in body, mind, and spirit, when I help to guide someone out of pain and torment to peace and serenity, I know I am part of God's will and plan. This satisfies and excites me more than anything else possible.
Yours truly,
Conrad G. Martin
